Chilly Billion
03:02
|
|||
Against all odds
Here it is
I almost died, but
I didn’t.
A hospital stay
To get the cred
I still have the bracelet
To prove it.
I made it out alive
And just in time
To finish this shit
Before the deadline
Everything is chill
Everything is fine
I feel like a bill
Everything’s alright
It’s scary
Where you’ve never been
Sleepless nights
And freezing
All I could do
Is wait and see
Until they said
I was finally free
Everything is chill
Everything is fine
I feel like a bill
Everything’s alright
And for a second I
Wasn’t sure I’d come out alive
I’m one of the lucky ones
Just one out of the chilly billions

The Island
03:24
|
|||
Sun set on the old wood planks
That led into my home for the summer
A leanto I built with my friends meant
Adventures that would never end.
We stayed up all night, making s’mores
And talking like the big kids did
I couldn’t wait for summer to begin
When I could stay out late with my friends
Curfew was when the street lights came on
We spent everyday outside until they were all gone.
I learned how to shoot a bow
I got a bullseye on the first try
And when I chased Amanda around the fire pit
I tripped, and bloodied my bottom lip.
Everything was all good until it got dark
And I learned I wasn’t that big after all.
They closed the island when I was 12
And we all had to move away.
I never saw a single one of my friends again
Sadly including today.
Man I’d give anything for one more day
On the island

I try check in on you and you say, “I’m a wreck.”
“I’m giving up hope,
I’m at the end of my rope,
I’m gonna give up the ghost,
After I give up all the rest.”
I say well, how can I help?
If there’s anything just let me know.
You say, “I’m weighed down by stones,
A pearl lost in the snow,
A split broken arrow,
Better off in the afterglow.”
“So just leave me to the birds, and
Let them have my bones.”
And how are we
Gonna get along without you?
We already lost you once,
We don’t wanna do it again,
It’s so hard to miss you
When you’re gone.
I wanna go back in time,
To when we first met,
You said, “Hi, I’m Shrek.”
I said, “Did you say Shrek?”
You said, “No I said Beck”
I said, “Oh shit, I must’ve misheard
Because of your turtleneck.”
We laughed for days about that,
And the time we saw a cat in a cowboy hat.
It was the funniest thing
That you’d ever seen.
Like when we turned 14 and I got you
Mexican jumping beans.
You didn’t think they were moths, but
Then they hatched and they died.
Don't go
Just stay here with us

Here Comes Sugarfoot
02:39
|

When I was young
I had some friends
That got me into trouble
I got in fights
I tried my best
So now I keep it subtle
And all I know
I learned from them
You can say that I owe ‘em
I keep it true
I don’t give up
I turned out pretty wholesome
I’m not that new kid anymore.
It takes a while
To level up, you know.
Every fight
Every thing
Every time you try
It all shapes who
You become
Every word
Every song
Every time you’re wrong
It’s okay as long as you’re growin’
And now I’m old
I have no friends
Because it’s hard to make ‘em.
I just don’t want
To try that hard
It’s not like makin’ bacon
And all alone is
Fine by me I
Think it’s easy peasy
It keeps me safe
It keeps me sound
It's where I'd rather be.
I’m really really not that
New kid anymore
It takes a while
To level up, you know.
Every fight
Every thing
Every time you try
It all shapes who
You become
Every word
Every song
Every time you’re wrong
It’s okay as long as you’re growin’
We all learn along the way
That maybe what we first learned
Isn’t always what they say
It’s up to us to learn to discern.

Shuksan
03:17
|

It was a little town
Tucked up in Washington
Where we first met,
It was called Maple Falls
You were living life,
For your mental health
While I was getting lost,
Trying to find myself
On the top of the cliffs there
Is where I can overshare
All the things I find haunting
About you
I’m totally sick obsessed
Like I’ve always been possessed
By every single little thing that you do
It’ll eat at me
If I don’t tell you now
That my insides
Feel like a waterfall
I’m overflowing
From a magic spell
S’il te plait épouse moi
Mademoiselle
On the top of the cliffs there
Is where I can overshare
All the things I find haunting
About you
I’m totally sick obsessed
Like I’ve always been possessed
By every single little thing that you do
Can you haunt my dreams?
I want to feel it.
I’m dying to feel anything.
I want to take you away.
To the North Star.
Can you see it up there?
Can we go that far?

Illuminations
03:59
|
|||
It all started
in a haunted house
up north.
The sisters Fox
Heard the knocks
On the houses walls and doors
This led to investigations
The spirit of a peddler long passed
Then came more illuminations
The shy fox did what it was asked
These mediums
These mediums
They’re speaking
They’re speaking to the dead.
These phantoms
These phantoms
They’re voices
They’re voices in your head.
After years had passed
They said it was a hoax
The ghosts they said were there
Was just them cracking their toes
No one believed them,
they said it was a plan.
Behind a wall in their basement
Was the skeleton of a man.
These mediums
These mediums
They’re speaking
They’re speaking to the dead.
These phantoms
These phantoms
They’re voices
They’re voices in your head.

To the Rescue!
03:07
|
|||
To the rescue!
I should’ve been there
Under the starlight
Broken promises
Fail to protect you
In the dark night.
When it mattered
I left you there all alone.
Cause sometimes a hero
Is a hero
And other times
It’s just a guy
And sometimes
He really does some living
But in the end we all die.
I am failure;
Epitome of all
That I cannot be
I am dead weight
Numbing the pain
Catatonically.
And when it mattered
I left you there all alone.

The story always starts out the same way
Young boy meets young girl while on holiday
The holding of hands, the kissing of cheeks
The sheepish grins that electrify me.
By the end of the day I’m ready to get…
Married. We might as well tell everyone.
That we’re soulmates and our love can never come undone.
We’re married. I’m ready to sell my soul.
Until tomorrow night when I have to go home.
This vacation won’t last forever, but only for a week.
Do you want to keep my jacket, the one with my heart on the sleeve.
The story always starts out the same way
Young love torn apart; vacation heartbreak
The crying of tears, the unbearable heat
Do you think this is the last time that we’ll ever meet?
Cause I was oh so ready to get…
Married. We might as well tell everyone.
That we’re soulmates and our love can never come undone.
We’re married. I’m ready to sell my soul.
Until tomorrow night when I have to go home.
This vacation won’t last forever, we’ve only got tonight
If I give you my address, do you promise that you’ll write?
I promise I’ll do anything you’d like
Don’t even think about sayin’ goodbye
Because.
No where’s too far to drive
No where’s too far to fly
If you’re on the other side
I’m digging right through
Interdimensional
Pulled through a black hole
Inventing time travel
Cause we’re absolutely gonna get…
Married. We might as well tell everyone.
That we’re soulmates and our love can never come undone.
We’re married. I’m ready to sell my soul.
Until tomorrow night when I have to go home.
This vacation might not last forever,
But it doesn’t matter when you’re young and in eternal love.
We both know that nothing can stop us
Because there’s nothin’ on Earth that even comes close enough
This is eternal love
This is eternal love
This is eternal love
This is eternal love.

'57 Stingray
03:25
|
|||
Prom night. I showed up way late
To pick up my date.
I lost, the corsage down a grate
And my hair wouldn’t sit straight.
All the time
I spent getting ready for tonight,
Oh tonight!
What a crime
A cheap fuse in a stick of dynamite,
Dynamite!
Watch me dance around this
Catastrophic failure
[All the other guys are thinking
About nailing her]
Sending it right into a tailspin
Of motion blur
[They think they have a chance but
I’m sure they’ll learn]
That no one is made for me but you.
And the world is built for just us two.
From Botswana to Honolulu
And from Fiji to Timbuktu
Grad night. I showed up tight laced
To pick up my date.
Got buzzed, dented the license plate,
On her dad’s ’57 Stingray
What a guy
He let me pay it off with my time
All my time
Oh my eyes
Hurt cause worked it off by candlelight,
Candlelight!
Watch me dance around this
Catastrophic failure
[All the other dads are glad
It’s not their daughter]
Sending it right into a tailspin
Of motion blur
[They think they safe for now but
I’m sure they’ll learn]
That no one is made for her but him
He’s the only bright light in the dim
From Barcelona to Auckland
And from her heart to every part of her skin.

Wet Cement
04:06
|
|||
With every new rock you throw
I hit a new bottom
And I guess I must confess
I just haven’t figured it out yet
What am I waiting for
When is the right time to leave
Why do I do this to myself
What do my friends think about me
I keep learning new things everyday
Like you hate the way I say your name
You hate my thoughts on Stephen King
And you even hate the way I sing
Why are you still around
Why are you dragging me down
I must be a glutton for punishment
Lying face down in wet cement
I must be blind you see
‘Cause I fit perfectly
Into a world you fully control
Leading me wherever I should go
I’m doing the best I can
I’m reaching out for my friends
They know I’m hurting inside
They wonder if I’ll ever be alright
